WHO ARE WE ?
In the face of those suffering on account of their disability, possible injustice, and even rejection, Arche's concern and responsibility are considerable. As a result Arche communities to do all that they can to defend the rights of the mental disabled; to create centres of welcome for such persons , and to incite society to become fairer and more respectful towards such persons. Arche communities seek solidarity with the poor throughout the world and with those who struggle for justice . Confederation Red Cape, May, 1993 (conclusion of charter)
The friends of Arche in Africa is an sponsorship association for Arche communities in Africa which aims to promote mutually enriching exchanges between the communities of Africa and Europe. The friends of Arche in Africa are fully fledged part of the Jean Vanier Arche communities.
General Assemblies Each year the association organises a general assembly, which among its objectives, encourages friendships within the association. A general assembly is an opportunity to meet and to share local initiatives. It regroups representatives of France, Switzerland and Belgium. Local Events Each community organises meetings, of a convivial nature e.g. suppers, 'theme' meetings on Africa etc.). with a view to supporting African communities at local level.
